Hi everyone, my name is Jim Hodge and I have recently taken up the position of Community Chaplain in the South Burnett. I am married to Judy and we have two daughters and one grandson. Our younger years were spent in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.  During the last 27 years we lived in Northern NSW near the town of Maclean, and as Christians we attended and served in the local Presbyterian Church.

Throughout my career I have worked in a variety of industries including: timber, sand and gravel, retail, and the last 26 years in aged care and welfare services. Two years ago I felt led by God to change my career and become a Chaplain. I completed my tertiary qualifications and then after much prayer, I applied for this position in the South Burnett, and so now the mission begins.

So what does a Community Chaplain do?

A Community Chaplain provides Pastoral and Spiritual care, as well as to proactively work with communities in order to develop their capacity to care for themselves and for others.  Community Chaplains work with a broad range of like-minded people and groups in order to embody and live out the Kingdom of God in the community, always aiming to point people to Jesus.

Another key priority for all Community Chaplains is to recruit and release a vibrant team of volunteers who can deliver a Chaplaincy service, as opposed to a Chaplain operating in isolation.

Please continue to support Judy and I through prayer as we begin our mission work in this region.
